Lesson for the Day
There’s nothing more soothing to the soul than a good long conversation with someone who inspires and understands you. It’s like a massage for your emotions.
I was talking the other day with someone about my friends and I said that I would trust all of my friends with my life. The person I was talking to snorted and said “Well, be careful who you trust.” I mentally bitch-slapped them for playing off my heartfelt statement as the naive ramblings of a child. Why should it be a bad or unwise thing to have a surplus of people in your life you can trust with anything, especially if you know that those people deserve it? I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t have someone in their life with whom they can truly connect and share their deepest thoughts and feelings.
Now before I go on rambling and getting more lovey-dovey than my ego will forgive me for later, I’m just going to stop myself and shamelessly press my opinions on anyone who will read this: Think about the people in your life who you know really care about you. Call them. Make sure you let them know how grateful you are that they spend their time and thoughts on you, and repay them by spending your time and thoughts on them. People are worth it. Real, true friends are worth anything and everything you have.
FUCK MONEY! INVEST IN PEOPLE!!!
People can be dangerous. They are full of love, hatred, animosity, compassion and great kindness all mixed up in a crazy unpredictable ball of baffling weirdness. But as long as I have been alive, I have never once had any reason to believe that people are not worth it.
